We are pleased to announce the return of the 42-metre motor yacht Sofia to the yard’s facilities in Groot-Ammers in the south of the Netherlands. Arriving in early October following a beautiful summer cruising in the Mediterranean, MY Sofia will soon undergo refit works and an extensive exterior paint job and is scheduled to hit the water again in March 2019.

Relaunch March 2019

Built by Moonen and delivered to her owners in 2013, MY Sofia features exterior design from René van der Velden Yacht Design and interior design by Art Line. She has enjoyed several years of intensive cruising since delivery, a testament to the oceangoing, Dutch quality at the heart of the Moonen brand. With her owners wishing to list her for sale upon completion of the works, she is scheduled for relaunch in March 2019.


Moonen Yachts will demount all equipment and dismantle stainless steel items from the hull before the painters can begin MY Sofia’s exterior revamp, which will start with an examination of her antifouling system. In addition to the paint job, the yard’s team will also lead a thorough inspection of the vessel, with any possible maintenance work also being carried out by the Moonen team in the Netherlands.

Comfortable cooperation

In addition to the refit of MY Sofia, the team in Groot-Ammers is currently being kept busy with the new build of a 36-metre sister ship to MY Brigadoon, the first vessel in the Martinique line that was launched last June. At this moment cutting of the steel and aluminium has started. Keel laying is planned at end of October and delivery is scheduled for spring  2020.
