Moonen Yachts announces that the 36m steel-aluminium motor yacht BRIGADOON is a finalist in the International Superyacht Society (ISS) Awards 2019. Nominated in the category Power 24-40m, the Moonen team will be present at the awards ceremony in Fort Lauderdale on 30 October 2019.
Delivered to her owners in 2018, Brigadoon is the first hull in the Moonen Martinique line and features exterior design and naval architecture by Réne Van Der Velden and Diana Yacht Design. She is nominated in the category of Best Power Yacht 24-40 metres, a true testament to Moonen’s commitment to building Dutch-quality, oceangoing motor yachts.
AWARD WINNING DESIGN
The 36-metre motor yacht Brigadoon is the first yacht built on the semi-custom Martinique platform. Both the Italian studio of Nauta Design and the London-based design team of Studio Indigo are responsible for her interior design of Brigadoon. The Moonen Martinique is one of four of Moonen’s superyacht platforms centred on spacious lay-out, proven performance, excellent seakeeping and the freedom of customisation.
The ISS Awards 2019 nomination follows Brigadoon’s previous win earlier this year at the World Superyacht Awards, taking the title of Best Semi-Displacement Yacht in the 33-39.9-metre category. Talking of the continued recognition of Brigadoon in the superyacht industry, CEO of Moonen Yachts, Johan Dubbelman, says: “The nomination of Brigadoon for best yacht in her size class in the ISS Awards is an honour for the whole Moonen team. Brigadoon is a fantastic example of the exceptional craftsmanship of Moonen Yachts, and our determination to keep pushing our brand to new heights. We look forward to attending the awards ceremony in Florida, and are excited to showcase the future of Moonen.”
UNDERSTATED LUXURY, GO-ANYWHERE CAPABILITY
Speaking of the design brief as well as the close collaboration which lead to the successful delivery of Brigadoon, owner, Mike Fisher, explains: “We’re very proud to have Brigadoon nominated in the ISS Awards 2019. We wanted a steel hull for stability and comfort and something with a decent long-range for that ‘go-anywhere’ experience. In terms of exterior design, we weren’t interested in trying to keep up with the latest fashions or having a boat which looked brash and boastful. We wanted a classic, timeless look which, while stylish, would not date. Build quality and reliability were both crucial.”
“We wanted the look to be elegant yet practical, stylish but also with a sense of its own identity and character,” Fisher continues. “The result – we hope – is an understated luxury that’s not too precious and can be enjoyed by all. Johan Dubbelman and his team at Moonen were fantastic, always obliging, and always helping us to enjoy the process of making the boat our own.”
In regards to her technical features, Brigadoon’s hull is constructed from high-tensile steel and is teamed with an aluminium superstructure. With the focus on comfortable cruising and technical efficiency, a reduced construction weight results in high speeds of up to 16.5 knots, lower fuel consumption and particularly low noise and vibration levels.
This year will mark the 30th edition of the ISS Awards, celebrating the very best in luxury yacht design, construction and engineering. The annual gala will take place at the Broward Centre for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday 30 October during the 2019 edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS).
Moonen Yachts will be represented in Florida from 29th October to 3rd November by Moonen Yacht’s CEO, Johan Dubbelman and Marketing Manager, Marianne Hendriks. Get in touch to make an appointment in Florida and hear more about the latest exciting developments at Moonen Yachts.
