During our 27th year building “pocket-size superyachts” we launched the eighth Moonen 84,
and two Moonen 97s with "Room for More". To meet future orders (up to approx. 150 ft.)
we opened a second building centre in Groot-Ammers. There we are building the first Moonen 124, which will be available in June 2009.

With such fine accomplishments and equally bright prospects, we want to share our joy and wish you health and prosperity in the New Year—and happy Moonen sailing!

In November we launched the second Moonen 97, Sofia II, for repeat clients. The four-stateroom 97, an ideal size between the Moonen 72 and 124, was drawn by René van der Velden Design over a round-bilge hull by Diana Yacht Design shaped for comfort, transatlantic range, and economy. The model has at-anchor stabilization and enough crew space for chartering.
Sofia II features Art-Line interior styling, with cherry and maple joinery and designer furniture. She has other features demonstrating Moonen’s willingness to customise, such as a stretched flying bridge, two tender cranes, and custom galley and stateroom configurations, and is the first Moonen equipped with a Night Navigator3 thermal imaging system.
The first fast yacht Moonen 99 Alu, Phoebe, is on target for summer 2009 delivery. Phoebe’s clients admired our award-winning 94 Alu Nilo, launched in spring 2007, but asked for a longer hull to expand crew quarters. Shaped by René van der Velden Design on a tank-tested round-bilge hull of Stolk Marimecs naval
architecture, Phoebe has a low profile and aerodynamic “look” suitable to her 26-knot speed. Like Nilo, Phoebe will be driven by controllable-pitch props running in high-efficiency tunnels. To keep weight down, Phoebe, like all our “Alu” yachts, is constructed of Sealium, and her antenna mast is fabricated in advanced composites. Phoebe will have a sophisticated traditional interior with modern accents by Rhoades Young, UK.
In our Groot-Ammers facility (officially opened 13 December) we are completing the 38-metre Moonen 124, our largest yacht ever. Drawn by René van der Velden Design with naval architecture by Stolk Marimecs, she features a forward main-deck master suite with veranda. Two double and two twin guest
staterooms are below, with crew quarters forward for privacy. All decks are served by a central atrium. She has our original tender handling, first installed on the 114 Explorer My Issue. Her interior by Art-Line features “fusion” styling of western cherry with lots of fine detailing. The wheelhouse is laid out for ergonomic efficiency.
Responding to a growing demand for increasingly large yachts, Moonen Shipyards has opened additional facilities in Groot-Ammers, some 50 kilometres northwest of its main site in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Operations started here on 1 May 2008, but the official
opening took place at 13th December 2008 in the presence of local officials, and was followed by a festive event with an enormous attendance including the local residents. A few lucky attendees even won the chance to enjoy a sea trial on the first yacht built at the new yard.
