A major five-month refit of one of its original “pocket-size superyachts,” the fifth Moonen 85 Moonshadow Noa (ex Moon Shadow) launched in 1991. The current owners have brought her back to her birthplace for major improvements and a total overhaul. To begin with the owners asked for a complete new sundeck, abaft the antenna mast, as a more private sunbathing place and protection for the original sun lounge. Other features of the exterior refit include: complete replacement of teak decking and refurbishing deck furniture, addition of a fixed bimini over the flying bridge and installation of a new computer monitor, raising flying bridge bulwarks, upgrading security cameras, overhaul of passerelle and swim platform, adding a new grill and icemaker, permanent fixation of all portsholes, and new paint including a dark-blue hull. The mast will be modified to accommodate SatCom and Wi-fi antennas.
Below the waterline, the stabilizers and rudders and shafts will be overhauled. Belowdecks, the technical work includes complete overhaul of engines, gensets, and exhausts, and the bridge will get new navigation components and alarm system. The yacht will have a wireless network installed. Pneumatic functions—such as engine and windscreen-wiper controls—will be replaced by electric ones. A new alarm computer and intercom will be installed. And considerable replacement and upgrading will be done to luxury owners and guest cabin furnishings as well as crew area. It is interesting to note that, many of the same talented hands that built Moonshadow more than 25 years ago are now rebuilding her!
