Our refit department was humming with the major rebuild of a 27.30-metre motoryacht this year. She is a custom yacht built by another well-known Dutch shipyard, but her owner brought her specifically to Moonen as an expression of confidence in our expert team of designers, engineers, and craftsmen. And we did not disappoint the owner. We lengthened her to 28.10 metres, by adding a large lazarette stowage section and integrated swim platform, and stretching the superstructure in proportion. We replaced all the prime machinery, including main engines, gearboxes, and generators, and installed a complete new heating and air-conditioning system.
We refurbished and tuned up all other shipboard systems and components. Moonen’s carpenters also replaced about half of the old interior joinery with new furniture components in a style harmonised with the existing joinery by our good Dutch friends at Art Line. The yacht also received new hull and superstructure paint. When it was all done we added her name, Heartbeat of Life, and felt proud that we had indeed given her a new life in which to take her owners to sea in safety and comfort once more.
